Rainfall in Malta
What is important about the winter rain is that the rain tends to be far heavier but for far shorter periods than in the UK and with sunshine rather than clouds after the rain. On average at the worst in mid winter more than half the days are sunny.
Malta's rainfall is heavier than that in London in Winter but far dryer in Summer with very little rain from April through to August. To generalise the rain starts in the second / third week in September and changes to dryer weather in the third week in March.
Unlike Cyprus where snow falls in the Troodos mountains, Malta never has any snow falls because of it's mild winter climate.
Temperature & Sunshine in Malta
You can expect it to be warmer and sunnier than the UK throughout the year. April, May and June are a nice time for very pleasant weather, good for sunbathing and not too hot when walking around the tourist sites, shopping, and just strolling around. Another benefit the country side is still green from the winter rain for most of the earlier part of this period.
